PrePharmacy Admission Detail at Marian College Of Fond Du Lac

First-time freshmen:

Admission to freshman standing at Marian assumes at least 17 units of high school credit including, at least:

4 units of English
2 units of mathematics
1 unit of laboratory science
1 unit of history
Biology and Chemistry are prerequisites for the nursing program
Foreign language is recommended for those who desire a strong preparation for college

The Admission Selection Committee will begin to evaluate students with at least a C average (2.00 GPA), who rank in the upper half of their high school graduating class, and who present a composite score of 18 ACT or 860 SAT. GED students are expected to achieve a minimum composite score of 2500 (250 composite score on tests completed before Jan. 1, 2002). These records will be used to determine the potential for success of each student as determined on an individual basis. The Admission Office may require an on-campus interview, essay, and/or letters of recommendation in determining the candidate’s admissibility to the University.

Transfer students:

To be considered for admission as a transfer student, a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale) is required. Only college credits of a C– or better will be accepted in transfer. The Marian University grade point average is based solely on courses taken at Marian University.

International students:

International students are admitted at the beginning of fall and spring semesters. To be considered for admission, students must first demonstrate proficiency in English by taking the Test of English as a Froeign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of a 193 on the computer-based exam or a 525 on the paper-based exam is required. For information on the test registration go to the official TOEFL site. In addition to the required TOEFL score, international applicants must also possess a strong academic record to be considered for admission to the University.

International applicants must submit all required documents by May 1 for the fall semester or Oct. 1 for the spring semester. Upon admission, international students must also submit proof of financial suppoert to be used during the period of study before and I-20 form will be issued.

Community Pharmacy Technician Certificate Requirements at Midlands Technical College

Acceptable admission criteria:

HOBET 50 composite percent (minimum reading 50 percent) and MTC writing sample score of 30; or

SAT 910 (minimum verbal 430) and MTC writing sample score of 30; or

ACT 19 (minimum verbal 18) and MTC writing sample score of 30; or

Successful completion of the Pre-Health Care certificate with a 2.5 GPA and “C” or higher in each course.

Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher for all coursework completed upon entry into program.

High school diploma or equivalent

High school or college credits in mathematics/science (algebra, biology, chemistry) recommended

Typing skills (recommended)

Drug record check for drug-related convictions

Current first-aid certification at time of program entry

Preadmissions interview by the Pharmacy Technician Admission Committee

Pharmacy Technician Special Requirements at Midlands Technical College

Students are required to purchase and maintain standard white laboratory coats, name tags and a technology patch at an approximate cost of $55.

Students must attain a grade of “C” in all pharmacy, mathematics and science courses to successfully complete the program. Only two pharmacy courses may be repeated.

Distance learners who are concurrently enrolled at one of the other technical colleges must be academically ready to take the first curriculum course in the Pharmacy Technician program.

In addition to the college’s placement test and the admissions requirements of the Health Sciences Department, specific admission criteria to the Pharmacy Technician program on the Midlands Technical College campus include:
