Many undergraduate pharmacy programs will admit students in the junior year if they have fulfilled pre-requisite courses with a specified GPA. Because specific program GPAs and pre-requisites VARY GREATLY, students are strongly advised to visit the home page of individual pharmacy schools of interest to them and seek out specific requirements. A good general web source is: www.pharmacy.org/students.html Click on United States of America and scroll through US pharmacy schools.

As an alternative to transferring after 2 years of pre-pharmacy, students may choose to major in Chemistry or Biology and on completion of their baccalaureate degree apply to graduate school in pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy Programs (PharmD) without an undergraduate degree in pharmacy may take an additional 3-4 years. With an undergraduate degree in pharmacy, they usually require an additional 2 years of study.

For 2005, the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) announces a web application service http://www.pharmcas.org/ . Please follow the posted instructions on this web site when applying to member Pharmacy Schools.

* This course sequence represents a suggested course of study. Students are cautioned that program pre- requisites in different pharmacy schools vary greatly. Therefore, students should research the specific requirements of the schools to which they will be applying. e.g., U of Buffalo requires Evol. Biology and Cell Biology; Purdue requires a year of Anatomy and Physiology.
